Chinese lantern, is not only for lighting, it often is a kind of symbolic, Such as represents the wedding ceremony jubilation, Lantern festival or Yuan Xiao jie. The use of lanterns Every major festival, Chinese people hang red lanterns to celebrate auspicious day, such as the Spring Festival, Mid-autumn Festival, National Day, burials weddings ,Changing residences. The development of lantern Han dynasty: begin Sui dynasty: Emperor yangdi invited envoys to see the colorful lighted lanterns Tang dynasty: the lantern show would last for three days Song dynasty: last for five days,speared around the big cities, (The largest lantern Festival celebration took place in the early 15th) Ming dynasty: Emperor chengzu had the downtown area as a center for displaying the lanterns . Now : it spread everywhere Color lanterns in Tang dynasty servant-girl lanterns and wheel lanterns of Tang dynasty Mountain laterns and tower lanterns of the Song dynasty At present,there are numberous types of lanterns. In terms of shape : there are dragon lanterns,phoenix lanterns rabit lanterns,lotus lanterns, tree lanterns and mountain lanterns in large scale. In terms of content: they are about historical characters, folk tales, and legends. In terms of material: there are paper lanterns ,silk lanterns,flour lanters and turnip lanterns. Chinese lantern integrates with various skills, such as painting art, paper-cut, paper firm, thorn joint(刺缝等工艺). Material Ancient:it was made of bamboo, wood, cane, straw, horns, metal, silk.
