CPI Lesson Plan Template Target Students: High school students Target Proficiency Level: Novice 11:00-11:40 (H24) 10 minutes = paper-cutting Lesson Topic: Dictionary skills, radicals Lesson Objectives: Introduce students to the concept of radicals in Chinese language and introduce students to the practice of using a Chinese dictionary. Students will be able to ask how to write a Chinese word or say a Chinese word. 10 minutes: Introduction to paper-cutting (Last 10 minutes) Students will learn the following new vocabulary: 查字典 (look-up words in a dictionary) 写 (v. to write) 读 (v. to read) 汉字 (n. characters) 拼音 (n. pinyin) 部首 (n. radicals) 复习 (v. review) 考试 (n. test) Learning Outcomes: Students will learn how to ask “这个字怎么写?”Students will learn to read the new vocabulary and write“的 and 得.” Standards: ( interpersonal communication ( interpretive communication ( presentational communication ( cultures ( connections ( comparisons ( communities Designed by: Peichen Chen and Kang Shishi Purpose/Time Procedure with detailed description and examples/questions Props/Notes/ Reflections Setting the stage/ review (5 minutes) Hand-out quiz to students. Repeat dialogue 2-3X. Ask students to give the answers. Chen: 你好吗? Shi: 我不好. Chen: 为什么? Shi: 我想我男朋友. Chen: 他叫什么名字? Shi: 他叫 Rei-an. Chen: 他好看吗? Shi: 他的眼睛是蓝色的. 他的头发是红色的. 他很好看.
