Abstract As the most primary means of language input, listening plays a key role in the perception and learning of language, it is regarded as an important means and the main purpose of language learning as well. Good listening ability is the foundation of learning English. After understanding and analyzing current situations and relevant problems of first-year students’ listening comprehension in No.1 Junior Middle School in Ximing, the author offered some proper suggestions for the students to improve their listening ability. At the same time, this paper also guided some tips for middle school teachers to help the students solve those problems and enhance their listening comprehension.
