It was constructed as a 1660 metre long suspension bridge with a main span of 853 metres , the third longest suspension bridge in the world (and USA)；at that time. The bridge deck was 11.9 metre wide, supported by two 2.45 metre deep plate girders (I-girders). 倒塌现象 8.am左右，风速大约16-19m/s，加劲梁产生强烈的上下振动（0.9m）振动频率大约0.6Hz. 10.am左右，好像什么东西折断（吊杆疲劳断裂），振动形式突然发生了改变，开始出现扭转，成45度不断扭转，振幅从0.9m不断增大到8.
