What is the relationship between success and failure? There is a Chinese saying that “Failure is the mother of success.” Basically, it means that failure is like a mother who will give birth to success. In Western countries, people say that failure precedes success. Actually, both mean the same because both of the sayings are used to encourage people who have just encountered a failure or setback in life not to give up. They both help to remind people that we have to go through the experience of failures before we can succeed. In my opinion, both success and failure involve the willingness to deal with an existing problem and continuing efforts to solve it. The difference is only in the matter of outcome. When a person is not able to solve the problem, he fails; if the person can, he succeeds. Success and failure are related to each other. Success comes through a failure or even several failures. However, there is time when people are lucky enough not to experience failure. And some people never say they have had any failure. In their eyes, there are only setbacks, and there is no failure. How can we achieve success? To be successful is a dream of everyone. In my opinion, to achieve success, we should work hard with burning desire or great motivation, and we should have strong self-confidence and make constant effort. It is very important for us to have burning desire. Don’t just wait for success to come or just hope for success. We have to work hard for success. As the proverbs go, “no pains, no gains” and “no sweet without sweat”. Any successful person has to make great efforts before he can achieve his goal. That is to say, if you are lazy and you don’t work hard, you will never succeed. Anyone who wants to be a big tomato, that is, to be successful, has to experience some hard time. Anyone who longs for success should make constant and great efforts. Although success is hard to achieve, you can make it if you are confident and diligent enough. Whatever you do
