* In 1865, the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting began an effort to organize the reporting system in England by publishing decisions of the English superior courts. As a result of this effort, the series known as the Law Reports (KD275-277 in law library) developed as a semi-official publication and is known as the preferred source for case citations.
