Many basic concepts and principles of Western culture have come down from the Bible. Many common English phrases and expressions have their origins in the Bible . Can you guess the meanings of the underlined words? 1. A:Oh, my God! What happened? Why are you black and blue? B:I got beaten by Peter’s brother. A:That’s a bad apple!
