This article summarizes the related factors affecting on the indwelling time, the complications of venous indwelling needle and the developments of its clinical nursing study. Condition of the patient, the purpose of the therapy, the quality of the drugs, the state of the patients’ vein and the patients’ compliance to the therapy should be comprehensively analyzed while operating venous indwelling needle. If we can choose the puncture point properly, eliminating the factors affecting indwelling time, decreasing the complications of venous indwelling needle, grasping the quality and quantity of sealing solution, keeping positive pressure sealing type, enhancing the nursing care during the indwelling time, the advantage of venous indwelling needle would be brought into full play and the safety and comfortable nursing care would be given to all the patients with venous indwelling needle.
