It made a quick bite in the deer’s leg and it was a poisonous bite . 它飞快地在鹿腿上咬了一口，而且是有毒的一口。 （1）bite n. v. v. 咬 Be careful ! My dog bites . 当心！我的狗咬人。 The dog bit him in the leg . 那狗咬了他的腿。 He bit off a large piece of the peach . 他咬了一大口桃儿。 n. 咬，叮，咬下的一口 She took a bite out of the pear . 她咬了一口梨。 The large dog has a powerful bite . 那条大狗咬人很猛。 （2）poisonous adj. 有毒的，恶毒的；可恶的 poisonous snakes 毒蛇 You are the most poisonous man I know . 你是我知道的最可恶的人。 另外，poison是它的名词形式，意为“毒药，毒物”。 It is a useful rat-poison . 这是一种很有效的老鼠药。 He tried to kill himself by taking poison . 他企图服毒自杀。 3. Soon other dragons came running to the deer , too . 很快，其他的龙也朝着这头鹿跑了过来。 come +现在分词，表示“跑过来；吹过来；流过来”等意思。 eg. He came rushing into the classroom . 他冲进了教室。 A wind , soft and warm , came flowing over the river . 一阵舒适温暖的风掠过河面。 4. Some of the small dragons were less than one metre long and no more than 20 kilos . 一些小龙还不到一米长，体重也不超过20公斤。 no more than 不超过，仅仅 eg. Her weight is no more than 40 kg . 她的体重只有40公斤。 It is no more than two miles to the seashore . 从这里到海边的距离不会超过两英里。 He spends no more than two hours reading every day . 他每天只用两个小时的时间看书。 5. When she opened them several minutes later , she didn’t see any of the deer left . 几分钟后，她睁开眼睛，一点鹿的痕迹也没看见。 （1）句中的several minutes later相当于after several minutes . 这两个短语不可与“in +一段时间”混淆。试比较： He came back three days later / after three days . 三天后，他回来了。（从过去某一时间起） He will come back in three days . 他三天后回来。（从现在起） （2）句中的left为过去分词，作宾语any of the deer的补足语。 eg. There’s not much time left . 剩下的时间不多了。 6. What an adventure ! 多么刺激的一次冒险啊！ adventure n. 奇遇，冒险的经历 A f
