* Teaching aims: Enjoy Chinese wisdom through proverbs and fables. Master some important words and phrases: no end of then make it settle down settle down to get stuck to one’s surprise it is no small matter to do something out of sight now that One day, the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher met Confucius. Confucius was explaining The Analects of Confucius to his students . When he saw Mrs Thatcher he stopped and greeted her. Then they talked about the turtle , crab tadpole and frog in the well. But they were insignificant. Then they talked of the invasion from the North during the Song Dynasty. When she intended to talk about another theme, Confucius was out of sight . She realized that she dreamed a good dream. She said to herself, “One eyewitness is better than two hear-says.” 1.What is a proverb? A proverb is a short sentence that people often quote and that gives advice or tells us something about human life and problems in general. 2.What is a fable? A fable is a short story that is intended to teach a moral lesson. 3.What are the features(特征)of Chinese fables? Full of human feelings Have a wide range of themes Reflect various aspects of human nature, human relations and social life Gods, animals and spirits are commonly described as living things with human qualities and human feelings. 1.Where are the two proverbs taken from ? 2.How do they come into being ?
