Tulip, sunflower, peony, strawberry, lemon, hemp, cosy, accumulated, abandon, promote, astronomy, appetite, calculate, identification, pass away, species, category, privilege
Period 1 Reading
The birth of a science (on P30)
Step 1. Warming up
Task 1. Speaking:
Do the oral practice on p29.
The procedure of growing soybeans.
Step 2. Reading
Task 2. Scan the passage for information and try to answer the question:
Why was Carl Linnaeus important to the history of botany as a science?
Step 3. Post-reading
Task 3: Answering the questions on p31-32;
Step 4. Homework
Finish all the exercises on Word Study and Grammar on p32--34.
Period 2. Integrating Reading Skills
Wildlife and Garden Roses (p34-35)
Step 1. Revision
Check how further the Ss know about botany.
Tulip, sunflower, peony, strawberry, lemon, hemp, potato, bean, cotton, radish, carrot, etc.
Check the homework. If necessary, give some examples to review the Object.
Exercise 1-4 on p164 is specially designed to check the Ss if they are familiar with the Object.
Step 2. Read the passage and finish the exercises attached to the passage.
