Students will actively use the steps of the engineering design process as they create solutions to various problems that will strengthen their knowledge of the scientific method and ignite their interest in science and mathematics. In addition to the tremendous capabilities of Episcopal’s Baker Science Center, students will have the opportunity to visit Smithsonian Institution exhibits as well as some of the historic sites in Washington, D.C. Through a series of demonstrations, slide lectures, and day trips to Civil War battlefields and monuments in the Washington, D.C., area, students will develop the fundamentals of contemporary digital workflow and explore the concepts and historical precedents of the documentary photographic tradition. On-campus instruction will take place in the Ainslie Arts Center, where students will have access to Episcopal’s digital workstations and 35mm digital cameras and lenses.
