On the process of Translation Nida’s four-phase process of translation (2001) (1) analysis of the source text, (procedure of determining the meaning of the source text, including the meaning of lexeme, syntax, rhetorical devices, discourse, etc. (2)transfer from source to target language, (Transfer involves the shifting of thinking from the SL to TL.) (3)restructuring in the target language, (Restructuring means transformation of deep structures in the SLT into surface structures in the TLT.) (4)revision (Test is a contrastive analysis of the SLT with The TLT in terms of meaning. Peter Newmark’s three basic translation processes (2001) The first is comprehension of the source text; the second comprises the translation procedures, which may be direct, or on the basis of SL and TL corresponding syntactic structures, or through an underlying logical inter-language; the third is reformulation. The process of translation is roughly divided into three steps: 1. comprehension of the SLT; 2. reproduction of SLT in TLT; 3. revision.
