If we define COGS as a cost element? then every transaction with this cost element will require a cost object assignmen t(i.e, a cost center, an internal order).? Sice COGS account which wil be hit during PGI delivery every delivery transaction will require a cost center or an internal order and hence this in itself is a major problem. Even if we OKB9 configuration to have? default cost center assigned to thisaccount this would result in creation of dummy cost centers and internal orders which would result in doubling of costs becose we would be recording the raw material and salary expenses twice? since these were recorded as expenses on cost centers? during production of prodcuts and would result in showing excess of expenses on the cost center reports and understating profitability.2. We do not define COGS as a cost element when we use COPA? since it is carried over to proftability by condition type VPRS (注意:我们使用了costing-based CO-PA)and creation of this GL as a cost element would result in errors in evaluation of profitability by segments.Hence keeping all these factors in mind it is strongly recommended not to create COGS as a cost element. Once it is created? it is not possible to delete this cost element and hence lead to many problems since this acccount is hit from all other modules.
