Civil Rights Movement The national campaign by American blacks (African-Americans) for equal rights, especially in the 1950s to 1960s. The campaign included demonstrations, speeches and marches (a march to Washington led by Martin Luther King). The civil rights act of 1964 and the voting rights act of 1965 were also introduces as the result of the civil rights movement. Civil rights movement, to some extent, ended the racial segregation and racial discrimination, and there it had changed the destiny of the American blacks and also changed the attitudes of the American whites to American blacks.
