Warm up by learning about sentence components. Hello, class. I am glad to be with you again. I hope you work hard at your lessens and be happy in and out of school. To begin with we shall go over the making of a sentence. As we learned last term a sentence is made up of several parts. The subject comes at the beginning part. The predicative comes after the subject. And the object follows the predictive. Look at the following sentences. He (subject) started (predicative) a school magazine (object) last week. We (subject) showed (predicative) her (indirect object) his new camera(direct object). His diary (subject) made (predicative) her (object) very sad (object complement). Listen and read. On page 2 is a conversation between Betty, Daming, Lingling and Tony. Now let’s go on to read it first. While reading, try to: cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study the predicative, darken the connectives and underline all the useful expressions.
