I also owe my sincere gratitude to my friends and my fellow classmates who gave me their help and time in listening to me and helping me work out my problems during the difficult course of the thesis. Abstract From Kung fu Panda to the Beijing 2008 Wushu Competition, Chinese Kung fu has been recognized certainly by the entire world; and it forms a trend to learn Chinese Kung fu in the west. As a part of traditional Chinese culture, Chinese Kung fu is bound to influence western culture in the process of spreading to the west constantly. From the perspectives of Tran cultural communication and cultural globalization, this paper emphasizes its impact on the aspects of sports, medical treatment, screen culture and language by means of a brief analysis of Kung fu’s concepts, origin and composition, especially the impingement of profound philosophical thought to western culture. It also elaborates some problems of Chinese Kung fu in the fusion of Chinese and western cultures, and some western society’s viewpoints to Chinese Kung fu. In addition, it puts forward its development direction in the western countries.
