Waimarama Surf Lifeguards Patrol Operations Manual 2011-12 CONTENT CODE: SAR007 SUBJECT: Callout Squad Information PUBLISH DATE: 2011 VERSION: 1 TOTAL PAGES: 2 7.1 CALLOUT SQUAD ACTIVATION The Hawke’s Bay Call Out Squad is activated by a call to the squad coordinator Dan Foley (or alternate coordinators Kim Nilsson or Brian Quirk if unavailable) from Police. The squad coordinator Dan Foley (or the alternate Coordinators) will contact squad members by text message to personal cell phones or failing this the squad members place of work. This squad is a group of local lifeguards trained and equipped for emergency response. The squad coordinator will contact other squad members by phone or text and give them a tasking for response. The coordinator will remain in contact with the police and organize the call out squad for the response. In the case that there is a volunteer or regional service on duty these resources may be used by the coordinator if required. There will be occasions that the Waimarama SLSC is contacted directly by the public or police to respond to an emergency. The patrol captain will lead the initial response by must call the Call-out squad coordinator at the first possible opportunity.
