Direction of Chinese Characters Reform Based on the Information Age Cao Hu-Hai HENAN Information Engineering College Zhengzhou，Henan 450008，China Summary： People from all fields in our society have got an agreement that Chinese characters must be reformed. But for several decades, even more than one hundred years, there is a continuous argument how to carry on the reform, in which direction the reform will go, which resulted in no further development in Chinese character reform. Along with the information ages arrival, Chinese character reform will be promoted once again because there are many difficulties in the Chinese character information processing. This essay brings up a new reform plan, that is, a reform plan of the Pinyin with the Chinese character characteristic, which indicates the necessity of the Chinese character reform and the methods about Chinese character reform.
