The right media literacy is rather important to a distance learner accepting distance education based on media. Academic research on media literacy of young people abroad is advanced, however, the term “media literacy” is known by few people in China, and the research of it is still resting on the surface, it is even a blind spot to distance learners. Based on the analysis of media literacys origin, concept and foreign development overview, this paper draws out the low-level research and practice of Chinas media literacy education, and it tries to find out the cause from three levels in the first part. In the second part, the author makes a survey among some institution distance learners. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire, the paper indicates the present poor state of the distance learners and the cause. At last, the paper tries to work out a strategy from learner, school and media environment, enhancing the competence of distance learners, which is the need responding to our media educations future process that will enable us to implement it more effectively.
