Variance Analysis often measures the wrong things. Dysfunctional behaviors are encouraged. 2. Variance analysis does not support or promote the kaizen (continuous improvement) philosophy. Purchase Price Variance Analysis Material price standards are ‘weighted’, therefore, variance analysis is not meaningful.
