整体设计
教材分析
通过对一个城市的描写, 培养学生的前后联系的思维能力和写作能力。教师通过提问一些问题引导学生抓住重点, 然后组织语言写好作文。
三维目标
1. 知识与技能
Make students learn to write a paragraph describing location.
2. 过程与方法
1)Make students learn how to use some prepositions to describe location.
2)Practice to improve students’ writing skills.
3. 情感与价值
Through the analysis of the steps in writing a short paragraph about describing location, students may learn some strategies on it.

Learn to describe location.

Have students form the habit of collecting materials before writing something.

教学过程
→ Step 1 Revision
1. Check their workbook exercises.
2. Ask students to do the following exercises so as to consolidate what they learned last period.
(Write the following on the blackboard. )
Translate the following sentences into English.
1. 中国在亚洲的东部。
2. 我家住在黄河岸边。
3. 英国位于欧洲西北部大陆海岸线附近。
4. 葡萄牙在西班牙的西面。
5. 法国隔英吉利海峡和联合王国相望。
Suggested answers:
1. China is in the east of Asia.
2. I live on the Huanghe River.
3. The United Kingdom is off the coast of northwest continental Europe.
4. Portugal is to the west of Spain.
5. France faces the United Kingdom across the English Channel.
→ Step 2 Preparations for Writing
Option One
1. Ask students to read the passage Great European Cities in Reading and Vocabulary on Page 2 individually.
2. Students work in groups of four or five to choose one city from them.
3. After they make a decision, they may discuss in groups to find out the information about the city they have chosen and take it down.
(Write the following on the blackboard. )
Information about the four cities:
Paris: capital, largest, the River Seine, is visited, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, restaurants, cafés, theatres, artists and writers. . .
Barcelona: second largest, on the northeast coast, the Church of the Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudi. . .
Florence: famous because of Renaissance, greatest painters, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, is visited by, the Uffizi Palace. . .
