This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Open Access Abstract TiO and Fe O were extracted from ilmenite using a HCl treating method, in which the conversion 2 2 3 ratio of ilmenite was ~97% and the yields of TiO and Fe O were respectively ~ 53% and ~80%. 2 2 3 With the prepared Fe O as the precursor, we synthesized the magnetic core of Fe O @SiO , and fur- 2 3 3 4 2 ther fabricated the magnetically separable Fe O @SiO @ titania nanosheets (TNSs) composite by 3 4 2 using the two-dimensional TNSs from the solid reaction and the followed soft-chemistry exfolia- tion. This composite exhibited superior photocatalytic performance with the H2O2 assistance un- der visible light or sun light irradiation, and its rate constant for degradation of Rhodamine B was respectively 14.5 and 20.4 times higher than those of Degussa P25 TiO and Fe O /N-TiO samples.
