This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). /licenses/by/4.0/ Open Access Abstract Nickel alginate fibers (NAF) were prepared through cross-linking reaction via a wet spinning me- thod. The adsorption properties of methylene blue (MB) onto the fibers were studied through in- vestigating the experimental parameters such as solution pH, contact time, temperature and ad- sorbent. The morphology and functional groups of the fibers were characterized by SEM and FTIR. The experimental results indicated that the fibers had high MB removal efficiency and the equili- brium time was only 2 h. The adsorption kinetics well matched the pseudo-second order model. The adsorption isotherms were investigated, and it was shown that the Freundlich model was the best fit for the adsorption equilibrium data. Keywords Nickel Alginate, Adsorption, Methylene Blue, Fiber
