Han is the largest group, consisting of 92% of the total population. There are 55 minority groups. 中文 – the Language Han Yu (Putonghua, Mandarin) is the most common language, spoken by more than 2/3 of the Chinese population. It is also the official language in Singapore. There are 7 major dialects. Cantonese is spoken mainly in Hong Kong and Canton, a province in southern part of China. 中文 – the Language Chinese is a category IV language in terms of its difficulty.
