Here we illustrate simply how CAD data - 3D models - are a typical early stage input. The same data, of course under full revision and access control so we make sure we have the right model, is collected into the CAM system – NX CAM. The NC programmer or process planner will add resource information such as cutting tool and fixture data, as the part program is completed. In NX we create define key elements of the manufacturing process and save the latest version of the machining process including all the associated data such as the post processed files ready for the controller, tool lists, work instructions and so on - all tied together and stored in one common system.
