Plot summary The story traces the life of David copperfield form childhood to maturity. David’s happy childhood is over by the arrival of his stepfather ,and David suffers both physical and mental abuse from his new guardian. Mr.Murdstone thrashes David for falling behind with his studies. He returns home for the holidays to find out that his mother has had a baby boy. His landlord, Wilkins Micawber , is sent to a debtors prison after going bankrupt .David decides to run away to find his only known relative - his eccentric Aunt Betsey Trotwood - who agrees to bring him up, despite Mr.Murdstone visiting in a bid to regain custody of David. The story follows David as he grows to adulthood . Aunt betsey sends him to Dr.Strong’s private school where David meets his best friend Agnes Wickfield. However,Dora soon fallsill and dies, leaving David single and heartbroken.He is very sad and leave his country. David then does some soul-searching and eventually marries and finds true happiness with Agnes, who had secretly always loved him. * *
