School of Languages and literature Zhejiang University of Science and Technology JUNE, 2011 摘 要 语言和文化的关系密不可分。语言的产生发展都强烈的受到文化的影响。在当今世界国际交流频繁的背景下，跨文化交际这门学科已经得到了广泛的重视。而高低文化语境是跨文化交际中的重要组成部分。高低语境文化的出现为学者们研究跨文化交际和交际环境的关系提供了一个新的突破点。对不同文化语境中的高低文化语境对比能更加有利于跨文化交流的顺畅进行。 本文主要采取文献查找法和案例分析法，在界定了高低语境文化概念之后，文章接着对中美文化中形成高低语境交际差别的因素进行剖析，在此基础上分析由此导致的交际问题，并提出可能的解决办法。 本文作者发现促进中美两种文化的交际方式不同的主要因素，即，即促进高低语境交际区别的主要因素在于两种文化中的宗教，哲学，语言，社会历史因素等的不同。高语境文化中的人倾向于以隐性的、间接的方式进行交际，其交际依赖语境。然而，低语境文化中的人喜欢明确的、直接的交际方式。高低语境文化之间的交际差异可能会引起误解和冲突。因此，为了减少冲突，交际双方必须理解彼此的文化和交际特点，并要学会容忍这种文化差异。 关键词：高低语境文化；交际特征；文化差异；冲突和措施 ABSTRACT The relationship between language and culture are inseparable. The emergence and development of language are heavily influenced by culture. Under the background of frequent international communication in today’s world, this subject of cross-cultural communication is received extensive attention. And the high- and low- context culture is an important part of cross-cultural communication. The emergence of high- and low- context culture provides a new breakthrough for researching the relationship of cross-cultural communication and communication environment. The contrast of high- and low-culture context can benefit more for smooth cross-cultural communication. This article mainly adopts literature search and case analysis method. After defining the concepts of high- and low-context culture, it analyses factors of forming communicative differences of high- and low-context communication in Chinese and American culture. On the basis of this, it analyses communication problem aroused by the conflict of these two modes of communication and put forward the possible solutions. The writer found that the factors contributing to communicative differences between Chinese and American culture, that is, high- and low-context cultures, lies in the differences of religions, philosophies, languages
