Anti-Japanese Demonstration 18th Sep. 2012 Bayi Bridge, Nanchang It is 81 anniversary of Sep. 18th incidence when Japan invaded China , and Japanese governments claims that Chinese Diaoyu Island belongs to them these days. People start to fight against Japanese products, industries. It is no exception in Nanchang. And today, I am going to report how things going in downtown. As you can see from the picture, many students gathered in the Bayi Bridge to demonstrate their anger towards Japan. However, we are also justified in worrying about the potential threat an increasingly belligerent Japan constitutes. Yet when peoples anger is directed at the wrong targets and displayed in ways that result in vandalism, physical attacks, and damage to private property, it is criminal and must be stopped. Therefore, we applaud the timely statement by local authorities that patriotism is no excuse for criminal offenses. We college students, as backbones of our country, must be rational enough towards these sensitive incidences. Right now patriotism should not be led astray by Japans madness, but instead rally around the consensus that Japan must first be disarmed legally and morally.
