It aims to train students the four basic language skills: Listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are expected to ① adapt themselves to the new academic environment and develop a good learning habit. ② improve their pronunciation, intonation and other language skills which help turn their ‘linguistic competence ’to ‘communicative competence’. ③expose themselves to new language items and enlarge their vocabulary.
