As we all know,vocabulary is the key to learning a language,so is English.But we always make mistakes in learning English words which makes us very annoyed. And now,let’s introduce a quick,excellent way to learn vocabulary. Do you know what they are? ——They’re roots. 1)前缀 + 词根pro- + pel → propel（向前）（推） （推进）2）词根 + 后缀port- + -able → portable（拿，带）（可……的）（可携带的）3）前缀 + 词根 + 后缀im- + mort + -al → immortal（不） （死）（…的）（不朽的）4）前缀 + 前缀 + 词根re- + ex- + port → reexport（再） （出） （运） （再输出） 5）词根 + 后缀 + 后缀cord + -ial + -ly → cordially（心） （…的） （……地） （衷心地）6）前缀 + 词根 + 词根  tri- + gon（o）+ metry → trigonometry（三） （角） （测量） （三角学）7）前缀 + 前缀 + 词根 + 后缀 + 后缀un- + pre- + ced + -ent + -ed → unprecedented（无） （先，前） （行） （表事物） （…的） （无先例的） According to the examples above,an English word is not made up of some simple meanings letters at will(随意地),but some concrete [‘kɑnkrit] (具体的) meaniful ‘members’.So,in order to remember a word,you can’t recite [risa?t] (背诵) them on the basis of(以...为基础) their letters’order,but for the ‘members’ meaning. However,it’s not all the same as their reality [ri‘?l?t?]?(现实).A great number of the meaning of the words don’t share the same as the meaning of their roots.There’s a big difference between the meaning of words and the meaning of the roots,even they have no relationship! We can’t judge [d??d?] (判断) the meaning of the words by the roots.There’re such examples as follows: 1）con- 共同 + spir 呼吸 → conspire 共谋，阴谋 （“共呼吸” → 互通气息 → 共谋，阴谋） 2） inter- 中间 + ven 来 + -tion 名词后缀 → intervention 干预，干涉 （“来到中间” → 介入其中 → 干涉） 3）pre- 前 + sid 坐 + -ent 表示人 → president 总统，大学校长 （开会时“坐在前面的人” → 主事者，指挥者 → 总统，大学校长） If you want to know what will happen afterwards,read the next chapter please!
