Albert Veenstra and Theo Notteboom has shown that there is a great potential for growth of especially Yangtze River container shipping. Fig. 1. Map of the Yangtze River. The Yangtze River is about length? Fig. 1 shows the position of the Yangtze River in China. The total length of the Yangtze River is about 6300 km. About 2800 km of that is navigable for cargo vessels. The inland port city of Chongqing is located in the upper reach, and the city of Wuhan is located in the middle reach. Together with Nanjing and Shanghai, these four cities are the main cities along the Yangtze River. The Yangtze River depth? Develops from 10.5 m in the delta area between Shanghai(上海)and Nanjing(南京) around 5–6 m between Wuhu(蕪湖) and Wuhan(武漢). about 4 m in the stretch between Fuling(涪陵) and Wuhan(武漢), to 2.5–3 m around Chongqing. Conclusion the Yangtze River container port systems, one of the most important inland container port system in the world. we find that the geography of the river itself is the determining factor of in the container development of the river port system.
