What books should I start reading to develop reading as a habit
Well, that depends on your preferences. For starters, I would recommend reading newspapers/magazines if you dont already read those. Even if it is on page 3, choose an article which seems interesting, try to read the entire article and not just the headline. Once you start doing that, you will start feeling empowered. Your hunger will grow, you will want to read more and more. Once you get out of that page 3, there is no stopping you!Coming to books, start with one on a topic you think you like. I would suggest you start with Fiction, as this category tends to be more interesting. However, if you like gathering knowledge, debating or gobbling up trivia, Non Fiction might be the way to go forward. The book need not be a bestseller or critically acclaimed one. But ideally, it should have the following attributes:1. Fast paced (so that you do not feel you are investing too much time in a new venture)2. Easy to read (so that reading does not feel like a burden)3. Captivating (to keep you hooked on)4. Having a narrative (it should not simply describe events/facts, it should weave a story around those)There are several books which fulfill these criteria. I will give some examples, maybe you find your interest in there!Thriller/Suspense: 9/10 avid readers will definitely like this genre. It goes easy on you. Read it, enjoy it, forget it.India/ Indian History: If you are Indian, you definitely would want to know about the world you are living in, how it came to be. Some of the books in this genre are actually quite interesting.Indian mythology: A niche genre, but extremely enriching. Once you start reading it, you will realize how deeply engrossing this genre can get. Read about why Shiva enjoyed Marijuana or why the Mahabharata could have spelt the beginning of nuclear warfare!Economics: If you lose your sleep over why doesnt the government simply print more money when it faces a deficit; or why a housing crisis in a small town in the United States could trigger a worldwid
