The recovered salt producing workshop consisted of salt water well , raw salt condensing lot , salt heart h , salt water adding pit , house foundations and heart hs , and ot her remains related to salt p roducing. The artifact s uneart hed during t his excavation were made of pottery , stone , bone and clamshell , among which pottery took t he bulk. In addition , large amount of clamshells , conch shells and some animal bones were also found. The typological feat ures of t he artifact s showed t hat t his salt producing site was built and used around t he Middle Western Zhou Dynasty. The excavation to Nanheya Site is academically valuable for t he researches on t he salt indust ry in t he coastal regions of nort hern Shandong during t he Shang and Zhou Dynasties.
