Language focus: ①Grasp some new words and phrases: cormorant; of average height; elderly; traditional; swallow; bang… ②The traditional skill: Cormorant fishing ③Grammar: a. Though / but b. Passive voice 2. Ability aims: ①To develop the students’ listening, speaking and writing skills. ②Enable the students to use what they have learned. 3. Emotion aims: ①Let the students be interested in learning English. ②Encourage the students to be confident in themselves. Ⅱ. Teaching Methods: Direct methods, group-work study and PPT show Ⅲ. Teaching Important Points Find the rules of the passive sentences Show some tips to help Ss grasp the rules of the passive voice Ⅳ. Teaching Difficult Points a. Using though/ but b. Using the passive voice Ⅴ. Teaching Aids Flashcards, recorder and overhead projector Ⅵ.Teaching Procedures: Step1 (5 min): leading-in: What do you like? Guess the future of cormorant fishing. Step2 (5 min): worm-up work: to deal with words meaning match. Step3 (15 min): to listen to the recorder while reading the text and cope with it. Step4 (3 min): to finish the exercise. Step5 (2 min): to get the feedback from the Ss Step6 (12 min): Group work: to introduce yourself, answer with the passive sentences, discuss and finish the writing. Step7 (3 min): assignment: to retell the story and practice speaking Ⅶ. Post-teaching Rethinking Experience the reading skill and arouse Ss’ interest, the most important thing is to get Ss involved.
