Methods A retrospective analysis in January 1985 ~ June 1999 treated 83 cases of thyroid cancer surgical treatment of large clinical data. Results 83 cases of large thyroid tumors confirmed by histopathology after 56 cases of benign and malignant tumor in 27 cases; 83 cases were followed up for 6 months to 10 years, 56 cases of benign lesions were alive without recurrence, malignant 27 patients with lesions 5-year survival rate of 96% (26/27), 10-year survival rate of 88% (24/27). Conclusion Surgical resection is the treatment of giant thyroid tumor reliable and effective treatment, surgery seeks to clear surgical field, the operation photogenic powder, to prevent accidental hemorrhage, to ensure surgical safety and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications. [Keywords:] Thyroid cancer; surgical treatment; surgical safety [Abstract] Objective To evaluate clinical rationality and safety of surgical treatment for vast thyroid tumour.Methods A retrospective analysis has been made on the clinical data of 83 patients with vast thyroid tumour that have been treated by surgery from January 1985 to June 1999.Results The 56 patients tumours of them were benign tumours attested by pathological histology; and the 27 were cansers.All the 83 patients had been called on at all times between six months to ten years after surgery, and the 56 patients with benign tumours all were survived and had not a relapse.The five-year survival rate was 96% (26/27) upon the 27 patients with cansers, and the ten-year survival rate was 88% (24/27).
