DoesDividendPolicyFollowthe CapitalStructureTheory? JustynaFranc-Da?browska Decisionsconcerningthemostoptimalchoiceof?nancingsourcesand dividendpolicyaresomeofthemostdi?cult?nancialdecisions.This articlepresentstheresultsofresearchconcerningrelationshipsbetween twocapitalstructuretheories(hierarchytheoryandsubstitutionthe- ory)anddividendpaymentpoliciesinPolishstockcompaniesofthe agriculturalandfoodstu?sector(2001–2006).Theresearchhypothesis wasveri?edpositively;companymanagementlimitsdividendpayment accordingtothehierarchytheoryandprefersinternalsourcesof?nanc- ingeconomicactivities.Inordertoverifythehypothesis,themethods ofdescriptiveanalysis,?nancialanalysisanddescriptivestatisticswere applied,togetherwitha?xede?ectsmodel.
