B-celllymphomasariseatdistinctstagesofcellulardevelopmentandmaturation,potentiallyin?uencingantigen(Ag)presentation andT-cellrecognition.Burkittlymphoma(BL)isahighly malignantB-celltumorassociatedwith Epstein-BarrVirus(EBV) infection.AlthoughBLcanbee?ectivelytreatedinadultsandchildren,leadingtohighsurvivalrates,itsabilitytomaskitselffrom theimmunesystemmakesBLanintriguingdiseasetostudy.Inthispaper,wewillprovideanoverviewofBLanditsassociation withEBVandthec-myconcogene.ThecontributionsofEBVandc-myctoB-celltransformation,proliferation,orattenuation ofcellularnetworkandimmunerecognitionorevasionwillbesummarized.Wewillalsodiscussthevariouspathwaysbywhich BLescapesimmunedetectionbyinhibitingbothHLAclassI-andII-mediatedAgpresentationtoTcells.Finally,wewillprovide anoverviewofrecentdevelopmentssuggestingtheexistenceofBL-associatedinhibitorymoleculesthatmayblockHLAclass II-mediatedAgpresentationtoCD4+Tcells,facilitatingimmuneescapeofBL. 1.Introduction of human diseases and malignancies.
