Aims.ThisretrospectivestudywastoidentifysomechallengesinthetreatmentofBuruliulcer(BU)andpresentaproposed treatmentregime.MaterialsandMethods.Informationfrompatientsmedicalrecords,hospitaldatabase,andfollow-up?ndings onBUtreatmentproceduresfrom1994to1998andfrom2004to2007atthreeresearchsitesinGhanawerereviewedtodetermine thetreatmentchallengesencountered.Dataneededwererecordedandanalyzed,andresultspresentedusingSPSSversion17.0. Results.Atotalof489BUpatientsinformationwasselectedforthestudy.Amajority(56.90%,n = 278)ofthepatientswere children(0–14years),withameanageof12.8years.Signi?cantchallengesinBUtreatmentinGhanaidenti?edincludedsequelae (P=0.041),delayedtreatment(P=0.012),andhightreatmentcost(P=0.044).Durationofhospitalstaywasclearlycorrelated withthetimespentathomepriortoadmission;spearman’srankcorrelationcoe?cientwas0.72(95%CI0.42–0.87).Conclusion. DelaysinseekingtreatmentamongBUpatientswerethemainfactorwhichresultedinmostoftheotherfactorscontributingto thechallengesintreatme
