Switchingconvertersareusedinelectricdriveapplicationstoproducevariablevoltage,variablefrequencysupplywhichgenerates harmfullargedv/dtandhigh-frequencycommonmodevoltages(CMV).MultilevelinvertersgeneratelowerCMVascompared toconventionaltwo-levelinverters.Thispaperpresentssimplecarrier-basedtechniquetocontrolthecommonmodevoltages in multilevel inverters using di?erent structures of sine-triangle comparison method such as phase disposition (PD), phase oppositiondisposition(POD)byaddingcommonmodevoltageo?setsignaltoactualreferencevoltagesignal.Thispaperalso presentedthemethodtooptimizethemagnitudeofthiso?setsignaltoreduceCMVandtotalharmonicdistortionininverter outputvoltage.Thepresentedtechniquesgivecomparableperformanceasobtainedincomplexspacevector-basedcontrolstrategy, intermsofnumberofcommutations,magnitude,andrateofchangeofCMVandharmonicpro?leofinverteroutputvoltage.
