The accurate diagnosis of acute graft-versus-host disease following liver transplantation (LTx-aGVHD) has been hampered. ChimerismappearsinthemajorityofrecipientsafterLTanditssigni?canceinthediagnosisofLTx-aGVHDhasnotbeenclearly established.Todemonstratethesigni?canceofchimerismonthediagnosisofLTx-aGVHD,wecomparedthechangeofchimerism insyngeneicLTrecipients,semiallogeneicLTrecipients,andLTx-aGVHDinducedrecipients.ChimerisminPBMCsfollowing sex-mismatchedLTwasidenti?edbyreal-timePCRbasedonaratY-chromosome-speci?cprimer.Allrecipientsinsemiallogeneic group grew in a normal pattern.
