One recent study compared these activations, and found evidence consistent with a single commonregion.However,theapparentoverlapmayhavebeenduetothelowresolutionoftheprevioustechnique.We testedthis hypothesis using ahigh-resolution protocol,within-subjects analyses, andmore powerful statisticalmethods. Strictconjunctionanalysesrevealedthattheareaofoverlapwassmallandontheperipheryofeachactivation.Inaddition,a bootstrapanalysisidentifiedareliable6–10mmspatialdisplacementbetweenthepeakactivationsofthetwotasks;the samemagnitudeanddirectionofdisplacementwasobservedinwithin-subjectscomparisons.Inall,theseresultssuggest thatthereareneighboringbutdistinctregionswithintheRTPJimplicatedinTheoryofMindandorientingattention.
