In this work, malaria incidence and its determinants including bed net use were investigatedinchildrenofunder5yearsofagein28villagesinsouthernBeninduringthedryseason. MethodsandFindings:Meanmalariaclinicalincidencewasmeasuredinchildrenaged0–5yearsbyactivecasedetectionin 28villagesoftheOuidah-Kpomasse-ToriBossitosanitarydistrictbetweenNovember2007andMarch2008.UsingPoisson mixed-effectmodels,malariaincidencewasassessedaccordingtotheleveloftransmissionbydifferentvectorspecies,and Long-Lasting Insecticide-treated mosquito Nets (LLIN) use and ownership. Then, a Binomial mixed-effect model was developedtoassesswhethernighttimetemperature(derivedfromMODISremotesensingdata),bitingnuisanceandLLIN ownership are good predictors of LLIN use .60%. Results suggested that Anopheles funestus (Incidence Rates Ratio (IRR)=3.38[IC951.91–6])ratherthanAn.gambiaes.s.isresponsibleformalariatransmission.ArateofLLINuse.60%was associatedwithalowerriskofmalaria(IRR=0.6[IC950.37–0.99]).Lownocturnaltemperatureandhighbitingnuisancewere goodpredictorsofLLINuse.60%.
