However,therateandextentofCD4+Tcellrecoveryvarieswidely.Weassessedtheimpactofseveralfactorsonimmune reconstitutioninalargeKenyancohort. Methodology/PrincipalFindings:HIV-infectedfemalesexworkersfromalongitudinalcohort,withatleast1yearofpre- ARTand6monthsofpost-ARTfollow-up(n=79),wereenrolledinthecurrentstudy.Themedianpre-ARTfollow-upwas 4,040days.CD4countsweremeasuredbiannuallyandviralloadswhereavailable.ThemedianCD4countatARTinitiation was180cells/ul,whichincreasedto339cells/ulatthemostrecentstudyvisit.TherateofCD4+TcellincreaseonARTwas 7.91cells/month(mean=13,range225.92to169.4).LTNPstatuspriortoARTinitiationdidnotassociatewiththerateof CD4 recovery on ART. In univariate analyses, associations were observed for CD4 recovery rate and duration of pre-ART immunosuppression(r=20.326,p=0.004)andCD4nadir(r=0.284,p=0.012).Inmultivariateanalysisincludingage,CD4 nadir,durationofHIVinfection,durationofpre-ARTimmunosuppression,andbaselineviralload,onlyCD4nadir(p=0.007) andnotdurationofimmunosupression(p=0.87)remainedsignificantlyassoci
