Background
Published pharmaceutical industry–sponsored trials are more likely than non-industry-
sponsoredtrialstoreportresultsandconclusionsthatfavordrugoverplacebo.Littleisknown
aboutpotentialbiasesindrug–drugcomparisons.Thisstudyexaminedassociationsbetween
researchfundingsource,studydesigncharacteristicsaimedatreducingbias,andotherfactors
that potentially influence results and conclusions in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of
statin–drugcomparisons.
