In this context,aretrospectivesurveyonprevalenceofselectedfelinepathogensinfree-ranginglynxeswasinitiated. Methodology/PrincipalFindings:Wesystematicallyanalyzedtheprevalenceandimportanceofsevenviral,oneprotozoan (Cytauxzoonfelis),andseveralbacterial(e.g.,hemotropicmycoplasma)infectionsin77ofapproximately200remainingfree- ranging Iberian lynxes of the Don?ana and Sierra Morena areas, in Southern Spain, between 2003 and 2007. With the exceptionoffelineimmunodeficiencyvirus(FIV),evidenceofinfectionbyalltestedfelinepathogenswasfoundinIberian lynxes. Fourteen lynxes were feline leukemia virus (FeLV) provirus-positive; eleven of these were antigenemic (FeLV p27 positive).All14animalstestednegativeforotherviralinfections.Duringasix-monthperiodin2007,sixoftheprovirus- positiveantigenemiclynxesdied.InfectionwithFeLVbutnotwithotherinfectiousagentswasassociatedwithmortality (p,0.001).Se
