Methods:Peopleaged65yearsandolderwhovisitedamedicalcenterinTaipeiCityfromMarchtoAugustin2011foran annual routine check-up provided by the National Health Insurance were eligible. A total of 374 eligible elderly adults withoutcognitiveimpairmenthadameanageof74.666.3years.FrailtystatuswasdeterminedaccordingtotheFriedfrailty criteria.HRQoLwasmeasuredwithShortForm-36(SF-36).Multipleregressionanalysesexaminedtherelationshipbetween frailtystatusandthetwosummaryscalesofSF-36.Modelswereadjustedfortheparticipants’sociodemographicandhealth status. Results: After adjusting for sociodemographic and health-related covariables, frailty was found to be more significantly associated(p,0.001)withlowerscoresonbothphysicalandmentalhealth-relatedqualityoflifesummaryscalescompared withrobustness.Forthefrailtyphenotypes,slownessrepresentedthemajorcontributingfactorinthephysicalcomponent scaleofSF-36,andexhaustionwastheprimarycontributingfactorinthementalcomponentscale. Conclusion:ThestatusoffrailtyiscloselyassociatedwithHRQoLinelderlyTaiwanesepreventivehealthserviceusers.The impactsoffrailtyphenotypesonphysicalandmentalaspectsofHRQoLdiffer.
