Here, we demonstrate that DAT-KO mice display lower hippocampal theta oscillation frequencies during baseline periodsofwakingandrapid-eyemovementsleep.Thesealteredthetaoscillationsarenotreversedviatreatmentwiththe antidopaminergic agent haloperidol. Thus, we propose that persistent hyperdopaminergia, together with secondary alterationsinotherneuromodulatorysystems,resultsinlowerfrequencyactivityinneuralsystemsresponsibleforvarious cognitiveprocesses.
