Results:ComparedwithmiceconsumingAIN,aregularbalanceddiet,miceconsumingAINdietsupplementedwith 0.1%quininegainedlessweight(2.89±0.30gvs5.39±0.50g)andlessfatmass(2.22±0.26gvs4.33±0.43g)after 13weeksofdiet,andhadlowerbloodglucoseandplasmatriglycerides.Therewasnodifferenceinfoodintake betweenthemiceconsumingquininesupplementeddietandthoseconsumingcontroldiet.Trpm5knockoutmice gainedlessfatmassthanwild-typemice.Therewasatrendforadiet-genotypeinteractionforbodyweightandbody weightgain,withtheeffectofquininelesspronouncedintheTrpm5KOthanintheWTbackground.Faecalweight, energyandlipidcontentswerehigherinquininefedmicecomparedtoregularAINfedmiceandinTrpm5KOmice comparedtowildtypemice. Conclusion:QuininecontributestoweightcontrolinmaleC57BL6micewithoutaffectingfoodintake.Apartial contributionofTrpm5toquininedependentbodyweightcontrolissuggested.
