Our studies indicate that Upk3l promotes epithelial polarization and morphogenesis, likely by forming or stimulating interactions with cytoplasmic signalingorpolarityproteins,andthatdefectsinthisprocessmayunderliethepathologyobservedinUP3aknockoutmice orpatientswithrenalabnormalitiesthatresultfromalteredUP3aexpression.
